Enjoy wildlife tours with an accommodation in Tadoba

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is both a national park and tiger reserve located in Chandrapur district of the Indian state, Maharashtra. The name 'Tadoba' is derived from the namesake God revered by tribal people living in the forests of Andhari and Tadoba region. By 1935, hunting was completely banned in this region, and it was declared as a national park in the year 1955. Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary and Tadoba National Park were merged in 1995 to establish the present reserve, which is spread over a vast area of 1,727 square kilometres. The best time to visit Tadoba is during the period between February and May, when the climate is ideal for wildlife tours.

Forest in this region is of southern tropical dry deciduous type, with nearly 87 per cent of the protected area covered with dense woodlands. The predominant tree species is Teak, while one can also find other deciduous trees like Ain, Tendu, and Semal while touring the region. The leaves of Bheria are used to keep insects away, while Kach Kujali is used to treat Parkinson's disease.

Wildlife tours also give tourists the opportunity to explore diverse fauna of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. Bengal tiger is the main animal species of this region, while other mammals found in the reserve include sloth bears, striped hyenas, Indian leopards, jungle cats, and barking deer. Tadoba: the oldest national park of Maharashtra

The oldest and largest national park of Maharashtra state, Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is located in Chandrapur district. Its name is derived from the name of a local deity called 'Tadoba' or 'Taru'. This deity is revered by the tribal people living in the dense forests of Andhari and Tadoba region. According to the local legends, Taru was a village chief, who was killed during his encounter with a tiger. On the banks of Tadoba Lake, one can witness a shrine of Lord Taru that has been built beneath a huge tree. It is visited regularly by the local tribal population, especially during the Hindu month of Pausha, when an annual fair is held in the Tadoba region. A tented tiger camp resort would provide greater convenience for leisure tourists and wildlife enthusiasts visiting Tadoba to explore its flora and fauna.
